Review Copy Policy

If you would like to review a University of California Press title, please submit your request to us on your publication's letterhead, stating both the author and the title you are requesting. Please be sure to include the mailing address to which we should send the review copy.

Please note:

• We are able to supply gratis review copies only for books published within the last two years.
• Review copy requests may take up to 4 weeks to process. If you are working under a deadline, please provide that information.
• Due to the high volume of requests we receive, we are unable to provide updates on the status of review copy requests.
• If you are a professor interested in obtaining a copy of one of our titles for possible course adoption, please check out the Desk and Examination Copy Requests section of our website.

Request an Interview/Event with an Author

If you would like to schedule an interview/event with one of our authors for your radio show, print publication, television program, or event venue, please send your inquiry to askpublicity@ucpress.edu, or call (510) 642-1302. Please include information about your outlet. We will be happy to coordinate these efforts.

Serial Rights

Newspaper or magazine editors who wish to run an excerpt from one of our books should contact askpublicity@ucpress.edu or call (510) 642-1302 to speak with a publicist. Journals editors should read our permissions guidelines for more information.

Download a Book Jacket

We have large hi-res images available for many of our titles. You can download JPEG cover images by ISBN here. You may also download a hi-res image by going to a book's product page and clicking on the cover image on that page. If a larger image does not appear when you click on a product cover image or an ISBN, we do not have a hi-res image for that cover available.

Image or Figure Permissions

Check the book to make sure the image or figure you wish to reproduce has not been credited to another source either on-page, on the copyright page, or in a credit section of the publication. UC Press can only authorize material for which it holds the copyright. You will need to secure permission to use any material copyrighted to another source directly from the source cited.
