Image or figure permissions:
Check the book to make sure the image or figure you wish to reproduce has not been credited to another source either on-page, on the copyright page, or in a credit section of the publication. UC Press can only authorize material for which it holds the copyright. You will need to secure permission to use any material copyrighted to another source directly from the source cited.

Public domain material:
Everything published in the United States prior to 1923 is in the public domain. You do not need to secure permission from UC Press to use material with a copyright date earlier than 1923.

UC Press author permissions:
If you are a UC Press author and would like to reprint material from your UC Press book in another publication, please email permissions@ucpress.edu or fax your request to (510) 643-7127. We will do our best to respond as quickly as possible. Please be advised, however, that it may take up to four weeks to process your request.
